Frequently Asked Questions

The Advanced Modular Imaging System or ‘AMIS’ is a compact, fully enclosed, multimodal super-resolution microscope designed to make advanced optical imaging more accessible. With an integrated multi-wavelength laser source within the 47 cm by 39 cm benchtop footprint, AMIS is designed to fit directly into life-science labs without sacrificing throughput beyond the optical diffraction limit.

AMIS has been designed to make advanced imaging easy & accessible for those working across all of life science research, enabling high-throughput, high-resolution imaging across scales spanning whole colonies and tissue sections to single cells. At a price to meet all budgets, the AMIS can meet the needs of academic research labs; imaging core facilities; life science and bio-technology companies; and healthcare facilities!

The AMIS features over six imaging modes, including:

  • Super-resolution 2D Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM)

  • Optical sectioning SIM (OS-SIM) for confocal-like background rejection

  • Total Internal Reflection Microscopy (TIRF)

  • TIRF SIM

  • Highly Inclined and Laminated Optical Sheet (HILO)

  • Brightfield

  • Widefield Epifluorescence

And as more imaging modes are unlocked, such as 3D SIM, the AMIS can be upgraded as and when your needs change.

The AMIS only has a 47 cm by 39 cm footprint, and 37.5 cm height meaning it can fit in the tightest of lab spaces or mounted on a trolley for multi-lab usage. The system only weighs 20kg, so if it needs to move from one spot to another it can be done so without special equipment or expert staff.

As a fully enclosed, light-tight certified class 1 laser system, AMIS can feature wherever works best for bioimaging workflows, no quiet dark room requirements needed. The AMIS also features vibration-resistant feet, so advanced imaging can be done directly on the bio-bench.
